Mattson Tomlin, Chloe Grace Moretz Team for Sci-Fi Tale ‘Mother/ Android’

Matt Reeves is set to produce the Miramax project, which will be Tomlin’s feature directorial debut.
Mattson Tomlin — the writer behind Netflix’s splashy sci-fi feature Project Power— has set his feature directorial debut with sci-fi thriller Mother/ Android.

Chloe Grace Moretz is set to star in the Miramax project as Georgia, who, with her boyfriend Sam, goes on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land— a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before Georgia give birth.

Tomlin penned the story, which is loosely based on Tomlin’s birth parents, a young couple who were determined to save their child amid the dangers of the Romanian Revolution.

Matt Reeves, who worked with Tomlin on The Batman, will produce Mother/ Android under his 6th & Idaho banner, along with Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn. Miramax’s Bill Block will also produce, along with Charles Miller.

Mother/ Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world,” says Tomlin. “I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.

Added Block: “Tomlin gracefully weaves the history of his roots into a futuristic tale with an imaginative twist on reality. It’s a true testament to his talent and unique approach at captivating broad, global audiences.

Tomlin has become one of Hollywood’s go-to scribes for high-concept genre fare. Outside of The Batman, his upcoming credits include sci-fi feature Little Fish, starring Olivia Cooke and Jack Reynor, as well as screen adaptations of comic books Fear Agent and Memetic, and video game Mega Man. He is repped by Grandview and Bloom Hergott.

Moretz, whose recent credits include Suspiria and The Miseducation of Cameron Post, will next be seen in Tim Story’s Tom & Jerry adaptation. She is repped by WME, T Squared Entertainment and Sloane Offer.

Reeves is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Jackoway Austen.
